Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-09-14
Agreement
By creating an account or using Bilg (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization and that "you" refers to both you and that organization. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
The Service
Bilg is a hosted knowledge base for developers. It lets you upload documents (Markdown, PDF, and DOCX), search them with semantic search, connect AI agents and other tools through an MCP server and API, and track project roadmaps (epics, tasks, decisions, and open questions).
The Bilg source code is licensed separately; see the LICENSE file in the repository. These Terms govern only the hosted Service.
Accounts
Sign-up to the Service may be open to everyone or may require an invitation, depending on current availability. You may sign in with a magic link sent to your email or with a password, depending on how your account was created. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials, API keys (prefixed blg_), and OAuth tokens confidential, and for all activity that occurs under them, including actions taken by an AI agent or other client you have authorized to use your credentials. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
Plans and Payment
The Service is offered on Free, Pro, and Team plans. Paid plans (Pro and Team) are billed monthly or annually with automatic renewal until cancelled; the Free plan is free and has no billing cycle. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles payment collection and any applicable sales tax or VAT.
If your usage exceeds your plan's limits, we may block further usage that would increase consumption (for example, creating new projects or uploading more files) until you upgrade or your usage resets; we do not delete your existing data because of a limit being reached. For refund terms, see our Refund Policy.
Acceptable Use
You may not use the Service to store or distribute illegal content, malware, or other harmful code; to reverse engineer or attempt to circumvent the Service's security or access controls, except as permitted by law; to abuse, harass, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts; or to place unreasonable load on the Service's infrastructure, including through automated scraping or excessive API use that impairs the Service for other users.
Your Content
You retain ownership of the documents, roadmap data, and other content you upload or create ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service. To generate semantic search results, excerpts of Your Content are sent to a subprocessor for embedding; see our Privacy Policy for details.
For personal data contained in Your Content, you act as the controller and we act as your processor: we process that data only to provide the Service and according to your instructions. If you need a Data Processing Agreement, see our Subprocessors page.
AI Features
The Service integrates with AI agents (such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or other MCP-compatible clients) and may surface AI-generated search results or actions. AI output can be incorrect, incomplete, or misleading. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content or action before relying on it.
Availability
We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be unavailable during scheduled or emergency maintenance, and we do not offer a service level agreement.
Termination
You can close your account yourself at any time from Settings → Account. Closing your account is permanent: we cancel any active paid subscription immediately and delete your account data shortly after you confirm the request. You cannot close your account while you own a project that has other accepted members; leave or hand off those projects first, or contact us at [email protected] if you need help. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, including the Acceptable Use section. After termination, your data is retained and deleted according to the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will provide notice, such as by email or an in-product notice, before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
